A 4-year-old boy named Tanush Roy passed away on Friday morning after falling ill while en route to Calcutta Boys School in a pool car. Tanush, the son of Sourav Roy from Rabindrapally, Baguiati, reportedly began vomiting during the journey. The pool car, driven by a man named Chandan, initially took the child to GD Hospital, but no pediatrician was available at the time.
Seeing the child's condition deteriorate further, the driver rushed him to NRS Hospital, where he arrived at 8:50 a.m. Unfortunately, despite efforts to save him, the on-duty doctor declared Tanush dead upon arrival.
The child's parents, Sourav and Tumpa Roy, along with his grandfather Haridas Roy and other relatives, were present at NRS Hospital after receiving the devastating news. The authorities have begun an investigation into the circumstances of the child’s death, including a post-mortem and inquest examination.
An Unnatural Death (UD) case has been filed, but no specific complaints have been lodged by the family yet. Further details on the cause of death are awaited as the investigation continues.
